Expertise in pediatric epileptology.
Available Remotely.

Your patients need paediatric epilepsy expertise. Is it available when your team needs it?

I am a specialist in pediatrics and adolescent medicine as well as a child neurologist focusing on pediatric epilepsies. I offer hospitals consultant care in pediatric epileptology, including telemedical remote EEG reporting. I have over 25 years of clinical experience, including many years in conservative as well as pre- and perisurgical pediatric epileptology. Prior to becoming an independent consultant, I worked for many years as a Senior Physician and Deputy Head at a maximum care level epilepsy center.

Profile & Qualifications

Clinical Expertise Developed
at Germany's Leading Epilepsy Centers.

During my specialist training at the University Hospital Kiel/Raisdorf, and subsequently as a Senior Consultant and Deputy head at the Department of Presurgical Evaluation and Surgical Epilepsy Treatment in Vogtareuth, I consolidated and applied my expertise in the treatment of children with severe epilepsy syndromes, as well as complex and pharmacoresistant epilepsies.
Since 2014, I have been working as an independent child neurologist, bringing my expertise — gained at a maximum care epilepsy center (Level IV) — to pediatric hospitals that lack these specialized in-house resources. In this capacity, I offer consulting activity for children with epilepsy and remote telemedical EEG diagnostics.

Services & Cooperation

Expert diagnostics, delivered remotely.

Remote EEG Interpretation

How can your hospital access pediatric EEG expertise without filling a full-time position?

I evaluate awake, sleep, and long-term video-EEG recordings remotely, seamlessly integrated into your existing Electronic Medical Record (EMR) system via VPN or a preconfigured device. The written report is delivered within 24–72 hours, with emergency evaluations available upon request.

Neuropediatric Expert Consultation

Which complex cases require specialist neuropediatric review before your team commits to a treatment path?

Detailed case analysis — full history, differential diagnosis, therapeutic recommendations, or referral indication. Written report for inclusion in clinical documentation. Available for cases where in-house expertise does not extend to paediatric epileptology.

Neuropediatric Expert Consultation

Which of your drug-resistant paediatric patients are candidates for epilepsy surgery, and how do you determine eligibility?

Based on years of clinical experience at the Schön Klinik Vogtareuth, one of Europe's leading centers for presurgical epilepsy evaluation and operative epilepsy management in children, I offer structured pre-evaluations. This process integrates EEG data, clinical history, and neuroimaging reviews to assess the presence of a potential structural etiology in pediatric epilepsy. In cases with a suspected structural cause, I provide specialized guidance and support for referral to a dedicated epilepsy center.

FAQ

Questions from clinical teams.

The questions hospital teams ask before establishing a cooperation.

Standard reports are delivered within 24 to 72 hours of receiving the recording, depending on the requirement. The contractual maximum turn-around time is 72 hours. For cases marked as an emergency at the time of referral and agreed upon in advance, reporting within 12 hours is available. This service constitutes a planned collaboration rather than an emergency on-call service: urgency protocols are explicitly defined within the cooperation agreement and are not improvised.

Two integration options are available: VPN access to your hospital's existing EEG system, or a pre-configured standalone device supplied for the cooperation. Both options are set up during the technical onboarding phase before the first EEG is referred. Your IT and data security teams are involved from the outset.

A Data Processing Agreement compliant with DSGVO is part of the standard cooperation contract. Patient data is processed exclusively for the purpose of clinical reporting and is not stored beyond the agreed retention period. Your legal department will be involved in the process of finalizing the collaboration agreement.

Planned absences, including annual leave, are communicated to partner hospitals a quarter in advance, much like a staff physician reporting their availability to their department. This collaboration is designed for predictability, not 24/7 availability.

The majority of active collaborations are established with district hospitals or secondary care facilities (Regelversorgung) that treat pediatric patients but do not employ a full-time pediatric neurologist. If you are uncertain whether your facility's clinical profile aligns with this service, this can be determined during the initial consultation.

Scientific Work

Publications

Over two decades of publications, congress presentations, and peer-reviewed articles on pediatric epileptology. For clinical teams, this serves as evidence that clinical standards, rather than personal opinions, guide every finding and recommendation.

Key Publication
Rosenow F. et al., Klinische Neurophysiologie, 2018

The foundational German-language reference on clinical Tele-EEG implementation. Co-authored with Felix Rosenow (Epilepsy Centre Frankfurt, ERN EpiCARE). The paper defines the standards German neurology departments use when evaluating remote EEG programmes.

Mentorship & Knowledge Transfer

Beyond diagnostics: advancing paediatric epileptology together

Beyond diagnostics, I am committed to advancing pediatric epileptology by teaching and mentoring the next generation of doctors within hospital departments. Every consultation is also an opportunity to share knowledge, and to raise the standard of care for children with epilepsy across Europe and worldwide.
